Coolest Subaru Ever

by Eric Miltsch on 02/08/2010 · Comments

Ken Block has all the toys. And when it comes to his Subaru vehicles – he wins with the best toys.

The TRAX STI is an experimental automobile that starts with Block’s competition-ready Subaru WRX STI before ditching the tires, adding snow cat tracks, and upgrading to some next-level suspension to create the ultimate backcountry shred car. Prepared by Vermont SportsCar, performance modifications include 400-hp and features Group N competition rally dampers made by EXE-TC and a KAPS 5-speed close-ratio dog-engagement gearbox. Under the hood sits a 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled STI engine tuned with a MOTEC M800 ECU.

by Eric Miltsch on 02/05/2010 · Comments

Tom Wright from San Diego, CA. gets the nod for “Most Original Recycled Amusement Park Ride Used For a Vehicle” award with his street legal bumper cars. Sitting under the hood is either a Honda or Kawasaki 750 motorcycle engine that is sure to crush your daily driver on a sprint to 60 mph.
Doughnut spinning Tea-Cups have yet to be spotted.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside…but inside, this is someone’s used car garage heaven!

TOYOTA has suspended sales in the US of eight largely new models while it examines problems with sticking accelerator pedals.

The move by Toyota Motor Sales USA came after the world’s largest automaker recalled last week 2.3 million Toyota cars and trucks in the United States because of the accelerator problem.

“Helping ensure the safety of our customers and restoring confidence in Toyota are very important to our company,” said Toyota Group Vice President Bob Carter said in a statement.

“This action is necessary until a remedy is finalized. We’re making every effort to address this situation for our customers as quickly as possible,” he said.

Models affected by the announcement were the 2009-2010 RAV4, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, as well as certain 2007-2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia models, according to the statement.

It pointed out that no Lexus Division or Scion vehicles were affected by the actions.

Also unaffected were Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser and select Camry models, including all Camry hybrids, which the company said “will remain for sale.”
