What The Heck Is a QR Code?

by Eric Miltsch on 07/01/2011 · 1 comment

You may have noticed more and more of those bar code-looking boxes popping up in ads, signs and even on TV.  They’re called Quick Response Codes, or QR Codes. “What the heck is a QR Code?” is usually the next response.Auction Direct QR Code

Short history: They’ve been around for about 20 years in Japan; created as a simple way to provide additional information to consumers. A free bar code application is simply downloaded to your smart phone. Once the code is scanned with your phone’s camera, your mobile browser opens with more information about a product or service.

Auction Direct USA has added QR Codes to our newspaper ads to make it easier for you to view our inventory. Scan the code in the bottom corner of our newspaper ad and you’ll have instant access to the best used cars.

Have you noticed QR Codes more frequently lately? If so, what are your thoughts?
