We’re one step closer to seeing a Google Car. The Roewe 350 is slated for an April 23rd release.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Roewe 350 will be made by SAIC )Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation
  • Google Android version 2.1 will be installed in the GPS computer (As used ithin the Nexus One & Motorola Droid.
  • Full GPS directional capabilities
  • Full web browsing capabilities including online chat

How is this significant?

Unfortunately, it looks like Google had no input on the design of the vehicle; there is nothing memorable about this vehicle’s appearance.

How do you see Google improving (or hurting) the automotive experience?

  • Vehicle price range is equivalent to $10,250 – $19,000
  • Online chat & hands-free voice communication could experience a complete revolution
  • Driver safety could see a much needed improvement by eliminating the need for handsets while driving
  • More vehicles could become Wi-Fi hot spots
  • Increased opportunities for in-vehicle entertainment and productivity
  • Enhanced by Zemanta
