Would You Drive a Flying Car?

by Eric Miltsch on 08/10/2009 · View Comments

For about 200k you can replace your used car for a street legal “Roadable Aircraft” called the Transition®.

Driving-Flight Specs:

  • Unleaded gas engine for road driving – distances up to 500 miles
  • Cleared for use at most airports – just need at least 2500′ of runway
  • Sport Pilot’s license required for flight
  • Cruising speed of 155 miles/hr. – distances up to 500 miles
  • In-flight movie, snacks & drinks are your responsibility

Terrafugia, the company behind  this odd-looking cross between an old VW Beetle and a Cesna, expects to have them in the air by 2011.

I wonder if your passengers will still ignore the standard pre-flight safety speech, or give it their undivided attention?
