The MINI Cooper S mixes fun-to-drive performance, engineering and a unique attitude with its 172-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine.  Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS, traction control, stability control and run-flat tires.  As usual, Mini provide more options than an Chinese Buffet: Xenon headlights, sport suspension, Dynamic Traction Control, power sunroof, navigation system, parking sensors, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and satellite radio.

Fort Mustang Convertible

Mustang  has always been a widely recognized, respected, and desired brand within the sport coupe category. Today’s modern Mustang is faster and more aggressive than ever with it bold styling, rear-drive performance The affordable price makes it even more attractive today when compared against the high priced foreign competition.

The Mustang still comes with two basic choice for each category:V6 or a V8; A five-speed manual transmission is standard and a five-speed automatic optional. Two body-styles, 4 trims, 2 engines, 2 transmissions and a stable full of additional options within the Pony Package: Suspension packages, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, a custom grille with fog lamps, and other visual upgrades, giving these more economical Mustangs something closer to the look and handling of a GT.

Chrysler Sebring

The Chrysler Sebring steps things up with newer looks and features with its latest redesign. They even kicked it up with more engine options: 173-hp 2.4L four-cylinder;  189-hp 2.7L V6 or a 235-hp 3.5L V6.  The new convertible even has roof options: A vinyl soft top, a cloth soft top, or a power retractable hard top. (Hard-top convertibles are very cool these days as the technology has improved significantly)

Standard safety features include four-wheel ABS, tire pressure monitoring, front, side and curtain airbags (curtain airbags only on sedan) as well as optional stability control.

Chevrolet Corvette

Who doesn’t love a Corvette. Especially a convertible? Its one of, if not the best, high-performance value in America.

The coupe and convertible each have a 430 hp LS3 6.2-liter V-8 engine and six-speed manual transmission. Opt for the dual-mode exhaust  and boost horsepower up to 436 hp. Another great option is the  six-speed automatic with steering wheel paddle shifters. You’re in what could practically double as a race car – may as well equip it with the same tools. Want to go all out? And why wouldn’t you?  The Z06 model has a 505 hp LS7 7.0-liter V8 engine, bigger wheels and tires. Much bigger tires.

Nissan 350z

The Nissan 350Z is fun, affordable, and it’s pure sports car. Oh yea. Its also fast.

The Nissan 350Z has eight “styles”: five coupes and three roadsters. All have the new 306-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6, and a six-speed manual transmission. Safety features, for each model, include dual-stage front airbags, with seat-mounted side airbags on all of the roadsters and the Nismo trim. Standard options include a tire pressure monitoring system, antilock brakes with Electronic Brake-force distribution and brake assist. The base trim coupe is the only model not to include Traction control.

The Eclipse Spyder is a two-door, four-seat roadster that comes in two trim levels: GS and GT. The GS has a 162-hp four-cylinder engine The GT has a 260-hp 3.8-liter V6. Standard equipment include front airbags and front side-impact airbags with head extensions. This is a killer value for a sport car that delivers so much fun – that lets you include three of your friends.

Mazda Miata MX-5

The Mazda MX-5, regardless of popular opinion, is actually a very sleek, well-engineered fun convertible.

They kept things simple. It comes in one basic configuration: a two-door, two-passenger roadster. Three transmissions: a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic with steering wheel paddle shifters. The 4 cylinder engine comes in two power levels, one rated at 166 horsepower, the other, for the automatic, rated at 158 horsepower. Standard safety equipment includes dual front airbags with passenger deactivation switch; side impact airbags; and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution.

Saab 9-3 Aero

Saab 9-3′ss are very sporty with modern designs and powerful turbocharged engines – and continue to rank very well in their safety classes. [top safety honors four years in a row.]

The Aero features a 255 hp turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine with a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic and even has shifter paddles on the wheel. Standard safety features: front/side airbags and Saabs’ anti-whiplash Active Head Restraints. The Convertible includes side airbag head extensions and rollover protection.

Chrysler PT Cruiser

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is available in two unique body styles: a five-door hatchback/wagon, and a two-door convertible. The five-door is available in three trim levels: LX, Touring, and Limited. The convertible only comes in Touring trim. All PT Cruisers are powered by a 150hp 2.4-liter, twin-cam four-cylinder engine. A 180-hp turbocharged 2.4L engine is also available. Its not going to win any races or time-trials, but it will give you and your passengers a lot of fun on a nice day with the top down. Simple enjoyment factor here.

Pontiac G6 GT Convertible

This is one of my favorites simply on value and functionality. Low priced and practical all throughout the year.

Its easy to see why this car has become so popular with so many buyers. [3 body styles, 4 engines and 2 transmissions]  Interior features such as standard air-conditioning, theft-deterrent audio system with speed compensated volume, and chrome accents further enhance this cars appeal. Safety features run throughout as well: 4-wheel ABS and all-speed traction control; front, driver and passenger airbag system protects everyone.

What are your favorite convertible used cars?
