Congrats to Subaru of America. They were the only automobile manufacturer to post a gain in US sales with 0.3% year-to-year
growth in 2008. Quite impressive as other manufacturers such as Chrysler and Toyota showed huge losses for ‘08. (30.3% & 15.4% respectively)
How did Subaru do it? Sharp manufacturing efficiencies, the allure of their mid-size vehicles and their ability to provide attractive lease terms in a time of massive lease pullbacks throughout the industry.
Just ask a Subaru owner and you’ll hear the loyal sentiments and enthusiasm loud and clear. “I’ve always loved my Subaru,” said Josh Lee, “I’ve been very happy with their fuel efficiency, safety ratings, reliability – plus they look great and perform nicely because of features like their All-Wheel Drive systems.”
“It’s been a tough year, no doubt, but we had a record sales year for our Forester, Impreza and Legacy models. It was a question of bringing the right cars out at the right time.” Michael McHale, Spokeman, Subaru.
